Yesterday's launch of Kingpin: Reloaded cannot be counted as a success. On the game's Steam page only 30% of reviews are positive (29.6% on SteamDB). Players complain about huge technical issues. One of them completely prevents gameplay - after launching on some PCs only a black screen is visible. According to users, also the quality of the new textures leaves much to be desired.
The developers are aware of the problems. On December 5 the studio responsible for the game, Slipgate Ironworks, released the first patch, which is supposed to solve at least some of the problems. Despite the quick response of the developers, players still report numerous problems with the operation of the game, and some are choosing to return the title. The developers chose not to apologize for releasing a clearly unfinished game.
Kingpin: Reloaded is a remaster of a first-person shooter from 1999 maintained in gangster climates. The player takes on the role of a criminal who wants to get even with his former comrades. Many players consider the original Kingpin: Life of Crime to be a classic. The game from the late 1990s stood out for its atmospheric graphics and extremely dark, violent atmosphere.
Kingpin: Reloaded is available on Steam, and soon also on GOG. The game can be purchased on Valve's platform 20% off until December 12. The game is scheduled for release on consoles in 2024.
